Silver Maple

This particular silver maple was growing off of 3rd Avenue in a client’s backyard. It had been improperly pruned in the past and was succumbing to its mistreatment and wounds. The removal was scheduled around AirBnB guests coming and going, which left us little room for flexibility with scheduling. A summer heatwave had pushed temperatures up to 106 degrees. Why oh why aren’t we swimming in the lake instead? I thought. To beat the heat, we started work at 4:30 am with chainsaws running. Sorry for the rude awakening, Sandpoint neighbors. The silver lining to the silver maple removal was that when we put the large trunk on the mill, we were blown away by the beauty hidden inside.
